Report on the Human Board Game 2018

Reported by: Grace Chee Yu Ting (G2.6)

In the conjunction of the Language Week 2018 organised by the TESL

Department 2018 IPG Kampus Ilmu Khas, a Human Board Game has been
conducted on the 23rd of January 2018 which was on Tuesday in the gym room
at the Sports Department.

6 teacher trainees from Cohort 6 had conducted the game and the game
was quite a success. There were 12 teacher trainees from different
departments participated the Human Board Game which were from Music
Department, Physical Education Department and Special Education
Department. The game was inspired from the “Snake and Ladder board game”.
Human Board Game features a life-size game board made up of 25 squares,
each representing a different exciting task. The teacher trainees, were divided
in groups of four. There were two stations for the teacher trainees to play. The
game begins when one team rolls the dice and lands on a task in which all the
3 teams compete to win. Human Board Game is based on teamwork, total
participation and engaging of English language in a fun way.

The participants gave a very positive feedback where they actually engage
themselves in the game but the negative feedback were, some of the teacher
trainees unable to use the English fluently and does not even know to
pronounce a simple word like “driven”. However, the only problem we faced
was that only half of the participants turned up. The big possibilities may
because the activity was being carried out during the students’ recess time.
Overall, they enjoyed the game and really helped them in knowing English a bit
deeper.
