L2 learners are often overwhelmed when asked to complete a writing task. Even at the
beginning, some learners will have difficulty getting started. In contrary, their preference in
writing style might be the factor in affecting their writing performance.

- Analyse the pattern of pupils’ writing style in relation to their writing performance
- To prepare the teachers in creating a holistic writing lesson to the pupils with respects to

SIGNIFICANCE
L2 learners are often overwhelmed when asked to complete a writing task. Even at the
beginning, some learners will have difficulty getting started. This shows that a writing task
could be challenging for the pupils. However, their preference in writing style might be
affecting their ability to produce a better writing piece. This research is to look into the
pattern in pupil’s writing style with the relation to their writing proficiency in how does it meet
the requirement of what is described as ‘adequate performance’. Next, it also gives the
teachers an idea of a writing lesson for the betterment of pupils’ writing proficiency.
