Proposal/client – In this section, I will be creating and giving an outline of my idea for my production.
I will then be discussing how this will be produced in relation to a client (in my case a film festival as I
am making a short film).
Research – For my research, I will be carrying out both primary and secondary research. I will be
examining existing short films as well as creating surveys to gather my own research. I can also use
vox pops to get verbal feedback.
Pre-production – This area will involve me writing out the script, producing story boards, prop list,
auditioning and hiring actors, location recees and creating contingencies. I will also be sourcing
music as well as gathering any sounds I cannot record myself. Pre-production is currently scheduled
for the week before and during half-term; to maximise this time as I am not in college, I can also do
some extra research (if needed) or I can try and start filming. This would be a good time to start
filming as people are more likely to be free during half-term.
Film – In this stage, I will be out on location recording all of the footage and audio required to make
my film. I will also be recording behind the scenes footage that I can include in my weekly blog (this
can also be used in a vlog).
Edit/Re-shoot – At this point I will be putting my footage together into a rough cut of the film. From
this I will be able to compile a list of shots/scenes that need to be re-shot in order to get the best
look possible. I will then re-shoot and use that to fully edit my film.
Centre name: The Henley College
Production Evaluation – For the production evaluation, I will be writing up a full evaluation, analysing
my finished film. I will need to compare it to existing products as well as critically examine the film to
highlight the good parts as well as show areas for improvement, as well as how I can improve.
Pitch and presentation – At this final stage, all of my production will be complete and ready to be
submitted. I will then be presenting and pitching my production and doing a feedback evaluation.
Marking week/Final deadline – During this final stage, all of my work will be submitted to be marked
and the unit will be finished.
All of the tasks set will need to be completed within the time slots shown (see left side of the table)
if I want to finish in time. In order to achieve a high level of work whilst finishing everything on time,
I will need to maximise my time by working at both college and home.
