Technology Learning Theory

The learning theory that underpinned the three lesson plans is TPACK.
TPACK is a framework that combines three knowledge areas; content
knowledge, pedagogical knowledge and technological knowledge (Marcotte,
2013). This learning theory looks at how the three areas work individually and
together, to increase student motivation and make the content more
accessible for children (Marcotte, 2013). Content knowledge is the subject that
the educator will be teaching, in my lesson plan it is Humanities and Social
Sciences (ACHASSK011 and ACHASSK013). Pedagogical knowledge is how
the teacher is going to teach the content (Marcotte, 2013). In my lesson plan,
there will be three table activities that allows students have gain more access
towards the content. For conclusion, students are going to participate in group
discussion and think, pair, share to explore what they have learnt during that
lesson. The last part of TPACK is technological knowledge, this area is about
choosing the appropriate technology to make the content more accessible to
children (Marcotte, 2013). In the three lesson plans, a variety of applications
were used to enhance the learning of children. The applications were not used
as a substitute but for students to create a finished product from the
applications. The applications used were the Camera, Pic Collage, Graphing
for Kids, Book Creator and The Dreaming. Context is also a very important
factor to consider when planning using TPACK. The context of the educator,
the classroom and the children is to be considered when planning.
