 CHILD SAFETY TIPS
1. Always wear your seatbelts when riding in a car.

2. Don't play in the streets. A vehicle may accidentally strike you.

3. Don't tell strangers where you live or what school you attend.

4. Never walk away, ride in a car, or leave with a stranger.

5. Do not open the door for strangers. They may try to harm you.

6. Never swim alone. Always have an adult present when you go swimming.

7. Don't play with fire or matches. You may harm yourself or burn others, including

destroy your home.

8. Don't play with guns or use drugs and alcohol. Take medication only from your

parents, doctor, or school nurse.

9. Don't put small objects- marbles, rubber balls, doll shoes, toys parts, etc., in your

mouth. You may chock and not be able to breath.

10. Make sure your parents are in the bathroom when you're taking a bath.

11. Do not drink liquids (pesticides, cleaning solutions, polish, etc) or eat materials

from underneath the kitchen sink.

12. Do not play with or put drapery cords, mini blinds and venetian cords around your

neck. You may accidentally strangle yourself. You could also strangle yourself

while playing on outdoors recreational equipment if you have drawstrings around the

hood and neck of your outer wear clothing.

13. Never play with power tools or cigarette lighters and matches. You could start a fire

or seriously harm yourself and others.

14. Never hide-in or get inside a refrigerator or freezer.

 About The Author

The desire to reduce pain and suffering of children and empower youth

to be the best they can be is what inspired Karl A. Floyd to create his

Professor Gulu stories and Cerebrophonic music series.

With a focus on increasing youth coping skills, safety awareness,

self-esteem, judgment and decision- making abilities, Professor Gulu’s

learning series has become a powerful tool to help gauge youth progress

towards emotional maturity. In addition, the series will help parents

and guardians learn effective communication skills and develop insight and

understanding on complex issues that affect youth development.

A resident of Fort Bend County, Texas, Karl lives with his wife and

business partner, Ann Branch-Floyd, and develops educational and

therapeutic resources that support healthy community development.

He holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from the

University of Houston, University Park, and works as a behavioral

healthcare professional. Karl is a former Statewide Health Coordinating

Council Member with the Governor’s Office of Boards and Commissions

(2004-2010) and is licensed as a professional counselor. In addition, he is

ce r t i f i e d a s a F e l l o w a n d D i p l o m a t e w i t h t h e A m e r i c a n Board of

Medical Psychotherapists and Psychodiagnosticians.
