Reading: Readers use everything they know about reading to get through the tricky parts.
Readers use many strategies to get through hard parts. We stop and ask, “Does the make
sense and fit with what is happening?” Readers look at the first part of the word and the
last part.
Writing: Writers study and learn from authors they admire.
Writers are generating and collecting important topics by using authors as mentors. We
are developing our topics by using a timeline to help us write our small moment from begin-
ning to end.
Math: Number Games
Mathematicians are working on addition and subtraction. We have been playing Towers of 10,
How Many am I Hiding, and Make 10 to help us with our addition and subtraction strategies.
Social Studies: How Do We Get Along With Others?
We know that we need rules to set limits for what people do, to help keep each other safe,
to keep things orderly and organized, and to make sure everyone is treated fairly (which
doesn’t always mean equally).
