Readers are naming and noticing what characters do in books to learn about them. They know their characters well and make predictions about what will happen next in the story. Writing: Writers write opinion letters for social action. Writers have chosen a topic, formed an opinion, and are providing supportive reasons and a possible solution for their topic. Math: Measurement Mathematicians are focusing on understanding length. They measured a variety of objects using a variety different sized units (paperclips, connecting cubes, and one inch tiles). Science: Pebbles, Sand, and Silt We just started this unit. We are observing several different kinds of rocks. We will com- pare the properties of different rocks.

We discussed when 2/16-2/20 No School, Mid-Winter Break we should be talking, when we shouldn’t 2/19 Lyon Cantina Fundraiser be talking, and how loud or quiet our 2/21 Hungry Howie’s Fundraiser voices should be depending on where 2/23 Spirit Day– 100 years old day we are and what we are doing.
