WWF-Pakistan, Gilgit-Baltistan is implementing the project, “AGRICULTURAL WATER, ENERGY AND HAZ-
ARD MANAGEMENT FOR IMPROVED LIVELIHOOD IN THE UPPER INDUS BASIN AREA OF PAKISTAN,”

The project aims to improve livelihood of UIB com-


munities through enhancing local capacity in under-
standing and managing and demonstrating state of the
art climate smart water, energy and hazard manage-
ment technological options in the pilot sites. Major
activities of the project are focused on integrated cli-
mate smart technology demonstration to improve wa-
ter use and energy efficiency, particularly demonstra-
tion of solar pump at community level, combined with
water harvesting ponds at farm level and micro irriga-
tion systems.

For hazard management, the project aims to demon-


strate early warning system combined with soft
structural and vegetative measures.
