1 INTRODUCTION

1.1 Purpose of Method Statement

This method statement covers cable ways (Ladders & Trays) installations activities.

1.2 Scope of Work:

Installation of cable ways (ladders & trays) to accommodate cables from and to site
equipment, panels, junction boxes, substations, instruments and control rooms, as
per illustrated in contract drawings, related contract detailed drawings and
specifications.

1.3 Related Documents:

Cable tray routing layout, typical installation drawings

1.4 Equipment:

 Welder machine (if required)


 Electrical drill
 Rust removal tools
 Painting equipment
 Regular mechanical & Electrical tools

1.5 Safety

All operation involved in the execution of works will be done in accordance with
Health, Safety and Environmental Manual
The safety officers, Engineers and Foremen will be responsible for ensuring the
safe implementation of the work.

2 PREPARATION OF WORK:

- The Preparation of work which would be ensured before work commencement is

such as but not limited to the follows:

2.1 Ref. to cable ways layout drawing(s) for specified work area.

2.2 Site review for the cable way routing.

2.3 Material & tools preparations and mobilization to work area.

2.4 Area site engineer will explain the work steps to the installation crew.

3 METHOD OF WORK:

Following the above mentioned contract specifications and detailed drawings; the

method of work will be as follows:

3.1 The cable ladder & tray supports will be H.D. galvanized steel, and fabricated
to suit the installation locations and per contract specifications and detailed
drawings.

3.2 The routing and elevation of the cable way will be as shown in contract layout
drawings.

3.3 Cable tray will be cut only a long line of plain metal and not through any
perforation

3.4 After cutting, all sharp edges will be smoothed

3.5 In case of sharp edges cannot be avoided, a rubber material will be installed to
act as isolation between the sharp edges and the installed cables.

3.6 In case of cutting and drilling, coated material will be immediately applied in
accordance with approved procedure.

3.7 The cable tray will be installed that the water can not collect or remain in any
part of the cable tray.

3.8 Maximum spacing between cable ladder and tray's supports will be as
specified in detailed contract drawings.

3.9 Cable ladder will be hold down via down clip and bolt, nut and plain & spring
washers in the support drilled holes as per detailed drawings.

3.10 Permanent electrical earthing continuity will be installed through the cable
ladder & tray run.

3.11 Check that the cable trays are properly bolted to the galvanized steel support.

3.12 Ensure that the tray is fully accessible from at least one side along the
complete route length.

3.13 Site inspection will be Performed to verify that the cable trays is installed
according with the drawings & all installation specification and standards.

4 JOB SAFETY ANALYSIS

4.1 The job safety analysis (JSA) is a step by step review of a specific job with
the aim to identify the potential hazards associated with each step of the job
and then eliminate, reduce or control the hazards before the start of the
work.

4.2 The JSA will be conducted to ensure that work does not start without testing
the risk assessment through evaluation by the supervisors and employees
who will be involved in the work, at the workface and immediately prior to
commencing work.

4.3 All PPE's shall be used like helmet, goggles, safety footwear, gloves and
safety harness if required.

4.4 All manpower, who are involved in the installation activities shall be informed
of the hazards and risk factors through tool box meetings prior starting any
activity.

4.5 4.5 During the installation all electrical equipment shall be properly earthed,
color coded and inspected as per CONTRACTOR requirements.

4.6 4..6 There shall be ongoing housekeeping activities undertaken by Accurate


to ensure that all work areas are clean and tidy.

4.7 A HSE has to be carried out:

4.7.1 Every time critical new work is identified.

4.7.2 At any time when a job requires major procedure modifications.

4.7.3 If there are any significant changes from previous HSE that could
affect the validity of the HSE I.e. changes in weather conditions,
changes in material, equipment, etc.

4.8 HSE steps:

4.8.1 Break job into observable steps.

4.8.2 Identify for each step the potential hazard and potential accident causes.

4.8.3 Specify control measures for each potential hazard/accident cause


specified.

4.8.4 Supervisor reviews all of the above with workers who are expected to
contribute their own suggestions for ensuring that work can be conducted
safely.

4.8.5 One member of the crew writes up the HSE report.
