Car Case
Your team is part of the Random Electric Car Club. The Club has decided to enter into a national
competition to build a battery powered car that will compete to see who can go the furthest in four
hours with a single passenger. Your team has been selected to enter the competition on behalf of the
club. The competition will be conducted at a location that is approximately 300 miles away from the
current location of your club.

The rules of the competition are that the car must be built from locally sourced, commercially available
material. The competition committee at the National Electric Challenge have put together a project
specification that each car must meet. This specification includes design parameters, motor parameters,
and restrictions on what material can and cannot be used. Each club is responsible for designing the car
and submitting it to the competition committee for review and approval prior to starting construction to
insure the final design meets the competition rules. A further inspection will be conducted at the
competition to confirm you constructed the car in conformation with your plans.

The club is responsible for transporting the car to the competition site including all expenses at the site.

In order to minimize the cost of the project, the Club has decided that after the competition it will
salvage as much of the car as possible and sell the parts to defray some of the costs. In order to fund
the car, the Club must raise the money itself from sponsors and other sources.

In preparation for starting the Project, the Club board put together a Project Charter to document their
agreement with the club team entering the completion. This Charter provides additional detail on the
Case.
