Let me read to you the competition rules:
The competition is divided into two sections, as follows:
Section 1 Prepared speech
Section 2 impromptu speech
For section 1 (Prepared speech) , contestants are to observe the following rules
• The contestants should deliver a prepared speech on a topic of their choice for 4 to 6
minutes.
• A warning bell will be sounded at the 5th minute and a final bell at the 6th minute.
Marks will be deducted thereafter.
For section 2 (impromptu speech), contestants are to observe the following rules:
• The Contestants are given a topic 4 minutes before they are due to present the speech.
• All contestants speak on the same topic.
• The time allocated for the impromptu speech is 3 minutes
• A warning bell will be sounded at the 2nd minute and a final bell at the 3rd minute.
Marks will be deducted thereafter.
The judging criteria for both speeches are on two aspects which are subject matter and
the use of the language. The important things are to make sure that you know your
direction and set a focus for your speech.
The organizing committees would like to thank Ustaz Mohd Asri bin Saad, the principal of
Maktab Mahmud Yan and …………………………………………………………… Representative from the
PPD for giving away the prizes to the winners just now. We hope that this competition will
be a sweet memory to all the contestants nevertheless you win or lose. To me, everyone is
the winner as you have battle yourself to step on the stage to overcome your fear and
deliver your speech.
