Course: Pre-independent 1 Number of students: 11 Unit 2: Competitions


Lesson 2a: Competitive sports Lesson 2b: crazy competitions.
Goal: Talk about ambitions in the future.
Set up: They will check their homework about verbs of sport competitions.
Warm up: Students in pairs will ask each other if they like competitions and what kind of competitions, how
they feel when they take part of a competition, if they have ever won a competition and if they think
competitions are important for people? Why? Or why not?.
Transition: Teacher will ask if they have ever wondered about how long they would like to live or other kind of
questions relate with age perspective and how different will their lives be, if they follow those tips of health,
when would they take decisions, then teacher will explain some wh-words questions such as (what, where,
when, who, why & how) to know how much students know about when to use them.
Activity 1: Students will create their own questions about their ambitions and then they will use to record
their interviews about their ambitions to represent their mornings, their afternoons, their evenings and nights;
then they will use them to describe their frequency adverbs using the example of page 11, but before they will
do exercises 2 to 6.
Transition: Teacher will explain grammar about present using the reading and underlining of tense in the story
and grammar chart, and then teacher will explain them how to create questions (yes or no) and information
questions.
Activity 2: students will have to ask to their partners using their own questions about what happened first in
their teacher questionnaire to organize their conclusions and organize from their surveys.
Transition: Teacher will tell students they are going to listen to track 12 about a survey about two anecdotes
with doctors and teacher will explain how to complete the worksheet.
Activity 3: Students will listen to track 12 and match the answers with their questions in the worksheet, after
they will check them orally with the teacher. Finally, they will organize the questions in exercise 11 and check
them using their listening skills with track.
Transition: teacher will tell students, they will receive a sheet of paper to watch a video about how long would
they like to live, and teacher will remember them how to create questions and ask them to create their
questions about the video.
Activity 4: (wrap up) They will complete the questions about the video of how long would you like to live.
Transition: teacher will ask students to read about blue points and give then some adjectives they will use
them to describe their points of view in this topic.
Homework: they will complete Unit 1 in their workbooks.
Materials: Book, Cd, multimedia room, worksheets and markers.
