Under overall supervision of the FAO Representative (FAOR) in Indonesia, the direct supervision of the Assistant FAOR
(Programme), and as a member of the Programme Team, the National Programme Assistant will support country
programme development and implementation as it relates to agriculture sector projects, while also having lead responsibility
for ensuring FAO contributions to inter-agency work, including in the context of the UN Partnership Development Framework
(UNPDF), the Humanitarian Country Team (HCT) and FAO’s relationship with Bappenas, as outlined in more detail below.

Specific responsibilities include:

 Support overall development and implementation of the FAO Country Programme, taking responsibility mainly for the
agriculture sector projects (complementing other Programme Team members covering fisheries, forestry,
agribusiness/value chains, and food security and nutrition)
 In close collaboration with the NPM and the National Operations Officer, monitor the implementation of the FAO
conservation agriculture project, calling on FAO Lead Technical Officer (LTO) support as needed.
 Based on priorities in the CPF particularly on the Government priority 1 on community resilience in close liaison with
government and development partners, draft project ideas for review and approval by relevant FAO LTOs.
 Facilitate the development of GEF and/or GCF Projects as they relate to the mandate of the Ministry of Agriculture,
with possible linkages to other Ministries.such as Ministry of Environment and Forestry
 Support the project cycle management using FAO (field) programme management tools (FPMIS, PIRES, others)
 Prepare working papers, briefing notes, and presentation materials in technical areas within the assigned areas of
work by collecting and analysing relevant data/information.
 Prepare inputs to drafts of periodic and ad-hoc report(s) for the FAO Country Programme
 Prepare correspondence in response to external queries, and obtain additional information as required.

Expected Outputs:

1. The conservation agriculture project (OSRO/INS/301/USA) receives the necessary support from the Programme
Team to ensure an orderly closure in 2018 (work plans are reviewed, periodic project reports are reviewed and
completed)
2. Project ideas/concept notes are formulated, ready for FAO technical review and subsequent submission for funding.
3. Progress in programme development and delivery is documented using FAO programme management tools
4. High quality presentation- and briefing materials on as/when needed basis prepared in a timely manner.

Academic Qualifications:
 Post-graduate university degree, with specialisation in a field related to FAO’s mandate (agriculture, fisheries,
forestry, environment, socio-economics, nutrition).

Technical Competencies and Experience Requirements:


 Five years of experience in the planning and development of technical programmes in areas of FAO’s mandate and
expertise (knowledge of GEF project/programme development is an asset)
 Strong networking skills, with government and with other national/international development partners
 Ability to take initiative with good time management skils; ability to work with minimum supervision
 Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
 Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect to diversity
 Previous employment in international organizations preferably with UN specialized agencies
 Very good knowledge of the English language, both oral and written, and fluency in Bahasa Indonesia
 Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Word and Excel

Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English and Bahasa Indonesia

Duration and Commitment : 3 months probation with possible extension depend on the performance
Duty Station: Jakarta
