2017 National Reading Month Celebration

Narrative Report

Every year in the month of November, the Department of Education leads the whole nation in the celebration of the National
Reading Month. This is to commemorate the birth of the late Benigno Aquino who was born on November 27, 1932. This year’s theme is “A
Celebration of Arts and Culture through Reading”.

In line with this, the North Central Elementary School joined the celebration. Honorable Belen T. Fernandez, Dagupan City Mayor,
visited our school last November 15 as a storyteller to Grades III pupils. The pupils enjoyed and listened well to the story “Ricky Saves the
Environment.” The story was authored by Mrs. Minafe G. Gabiola, a Master Teacher of North Central ES. There were questions given after
the story telling and prizes were awarded to pupils who got the correct answer. All questions were perfectly answered and with that, pupils
got their school supplies as their prize.

Other activities conducted during the month-long celebration includes: Book Parade, Character Parade, Spelling Contest, Story
Readings and Poem Recital.

There is always fun in reading. Other visitors who came over during the story telling were Mdm. Agnes P. Bacugan, Education Program
Supervisor in English, and Mr. Carlito C. Meneses, PTA President.

C. Evangelista and Mrs. Mary Ann F. Lalimo, join the pupils
in the Character Parade.

Mrs. Regina C. Evangelista, a Grade III teacher, tells

a story about “Chubby Bobby”.
 A choric speech competition participated in by the Grade VI pupils of North Central Elementary School under
Mrs. Michaela M. Bernardo, English Teacher. Set of judges were also present during the contest.
The grade five pupils enjoy listening to a story
entitled “The Birth of Jesus Christ”. Cayeesha Aliyah V. Legaspi, a
grade five pupil tells a story with the
teachers and fellow classmates.

The audience participates actively

in the question and answer portion. The
grade five activity was headed by Ms.
Rose C. Orfano, English Teacher.
 The Grade II teachers, (Nova D. De Guzman,
Jenevive V. Tuliao, Meridy Dixie C. Fernando, Merlyn
B. Colorado and Glenda A. Dela Cruz) together with
their pupils, participated in the Book Parade.
The Grade II pupils read the books after the Book Parade .
 The Grade IV pupils took part in the Spelling Bee
organized by Mrs. Louella B. Quitoriano, a Grade IV English
Teacher.
