CLO:

Compare and contrast the various educational theories of teaching and learning.

Demonstrate the appropriate application of various strategies to enhance learning.

OBJECTIVE:

The purpose of this assignment to develop learners’ understanding of what Open and
Distant Learning (ODL) is, and how it supports and prepares students to be self-determined
and independent lifelong learners.

INSTRUCTION: Complete ALL tasks.

Teachers need to help students continually upgrade their knowledge and skills by using
teaching approaches that can help students to be self-motivated and self-directed. With
appropriate teachers’ assistance and guidance, students will have the capacity to develop
their self-directed learning, metacognitive awareness and desire towards
lifelong learning.

As an Open and Distant Learner (ODL) with OUM, you are required to explain the concepts
of the THREE CAPACITIES mentioned above. Then, suggest and explain ONE appropriate
strategy/activity that you can organise for EACH of the THREE CAPACITIES mentioned.
Lastly, discuss how the strategy / activity can enhance your capacity to embrace and
embody lifelong learning.
