ASSIGNMENT QUESTION
OBJECTIVE
The assignment is focused on instructional leadership practices of head teachers and school
climate. There are two tasks to this assignment. The first task involves an analytical review
of an academic article on instructional leadership practices and school climate at secondary
schools, followed by the second task which is undertaking an actual study related to this
topic in an educational institution.
INSTRUCTIONS
The assignment consists of two questions. Question One requires a review of an article.
Question Two requires students to conduct a qualitative study at an educational institution.
Answer both the questions.
QUESTION ONE
Read the following article:-

Identify an educational institution that has a principal who has served in the leadership
position for more than 3 years. The assignment is focused on the teachers’ opinions about
the instructional leadership practices of the head and how much it affects school climate.
You should refer to the article in Question 1, your HMEF5023 module and additional
literature to get an idea of the instructional leadership practices and school climate. You are
required to interview at least TWO senior teachers (at least 4 years of service in the
institution) to attain the relevant data for this study.
With reference to the instructional leadership practices and school climate, the interview
protocol needs to include questions pertaining to this area. You should make full use of
ideas derived from these sources and also fall back to your other readings, internet search
and experience to help you develop other related questions for the interviews.
Please pay attention to the research ethics while undertaking this study. Do not divulge
information that could lead to the identification of the organisation, head or teachers
involved in your study.
