“A Reflection on Good Friday”
As Pastor Linda, Pat and myself entered the jail to
do our weekly visit, it seemed “quiet” and not as
busy as normal. We walked on to the women’s
pod, and were wondering how many might be
here. As we often do. Today was going to be different. We were going
to administer communion. We opened the doors to the pod, and saw
the floor was full of inmates since all of the bunks were full. The girls got
up to meet us. They filled all of the tables, sat on the stairs and floor in
order to see and hear us. It was very humbling. Pat distributed the
folders and I spoke about Christ, Good Friday and what Good Friday
was all about. Pastor Linda then spoke. It was so quiet as they were so
eager to hear her. They expressed how they felt that she would be
willing to come and talk with them and administer communion. She
spoke a powerful lesson on seeking and finding the prize, which is
Christ. Many of the girls were crying as Pastor Linda commented that
Jesus was right here among us and that He never leaves us. We sang
Amazing Grace and assured the girls that God loves them and we do
too. We all left knowing “yes, indeed it was a Good Friday”. We want to
thank our church and our pastors for supporting this ministry which has
such a powerful impact on people in need of the Lord.

BLOOM WHERE YOU PLANT - Tonight, 6:00pm
We have been blessed as a congregation to have Pastor Thomas
Crummer as our Youth Pastor for the past 11 years. When he came to
us in June 2007, he was still a student at Trevecca, and throughout the
years we have celebrated many milestones with him.
Marriage to one of Estill’s own, Traci Pendergraff in 2009
Ordination as an Elder in the Church of the Nazarene in 2011
Birth of both his children: Eli & Owen
Now, Thomas and Traci are starting on a new adventure. We want to
shower them with our love and thank them for their
service to Estill Springs Nazarene. Tonight at
6:00pm, there will be a “Bloom Where You Plant”
fellowship to honor Thomas & Traci. A money tree
will be available for everyone to contribute. Cards
are encouraged also.

MICAH 6:8 MINISTRY from Sandy Schefcik
Did you know…a new Tennessee law, effective January 1, 2018,
authorizes the Board of Pharmacy, in cooperation with the Department
of Health, to establish and enforce a voluntary prescription drug
donation repository program? Any person may donate prescription
drugs and supplies for use by an organization that meets criteria
specified by the Board of Pharmacy. This does not include controlled
substances. Every year, nursing homes nationwide flush, burn or throw
out tons of valuable prescription drugs. Iowa’s program, the program
that Tennessee is modeling, collects them and gives them to needy
patients at a reduced fee or for free. Oftentimes, these prescriptions
are tossed out due to the resident dying, moving out or no longer
needing them. Examples of these prescription drugs include blood
pressure medication, allergy medication, cancer drugs, anti-rejection
drugs and other maintenance drugs. Independent pharmacies are
encouraged to sign up to be a part of the program. That pharmacy or
medical facility that receives the donations may distribute the
prescription drugs or supplies to another eligible medical facility or
pharmacy for use pursuant to the program. The drugs cannot be
expired, not misbranded, or altered in any way.
