Life
The LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and
breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became
a living being.
Genesis 2:7

Channel (Meridian)
• Channels are the pathways that carry Qi and Blood through the body. They comprise
an invisible lattice that links together all the fundamental textures and Organs.
The channels connect the interior of the body with the exterior. This is the basis of
acupuncture theory, that working with points on the surface of the body will affect
the function of organs inside the body. Most acupuncture points relate to the channels,
and herbs or foods are thought to enter one or more of the channels.

• The organs and their relevant channels

form an individual energetic unit: problems
of the Internal Organs can affect the relevant Channels
channels, and conversely, problems that
start as channel problems can penetrate into
Internal
the Interior and be transmitted to the organs.

The functions of the channels
3. Responding to dysfunction in the body
• Disease of the channels themselves: disease of the channels means impaired flow
of Qi and blood (i.e. stagnation) or insufficiency of Qi and blood leading to malnourishment.
For example, previous injury or prolonged over-use of any part of the body may give rise
either to stagnation or deficiency in the channels in a local area resulting in aching and pain.
• Disease of the organs reflecting onto the channels: when the internal organs are in
disharmony internally, their related channels may also show signs of disorder.
For example, stasis of Heart blood can give rise to pain which descends along the Heart
channel in the arm, or ascends along the Heart channel to the throat.
• Visibly showing disease: in some cases, the course of a diseased channel can be discolored
and therefore visible, whether purple showing blood stasis, red indicating heat.
4. The channels serve to transmit Qi to the diseased area

The 12 Primary Channels
• The channel system is made up of twelve regular meridians that correspond to
each of the six Yin and six Yang Organs.

Principles of point selection in
acupuncture treatment
• Acupuncture points are mostly on the channels.
• Acupuncture points must be chosen according to two following principles:
1. The use of points according to their ‘function’.
2. The use of points seen within a balanced combination that takes into account
the channel system.
• When Qi flows freely throughout the body, one enjoys good physical, mental and
emotional well-being. An obstruction of Qi anywhere in the body is like a dam,
backing up the flow in one area and restricting it in others. This blockage can
hinder the distribution of the nourishment that the body requires to function
optimally.
• The purpose of magnetic or acupuncture treatment is to balance meridian system
by unblocking this obstruction in the channel after a complete, accurate and
comprehensive diagnosis of where Qi has become blocked or imbalanced.

Qi and Magnetic Field
• The oldest known medical book, the Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine, is
thought to have been written around 3,000 b.c., and mentions the practice of placing
natural magnets on acupuncture points.
• The electrical resistance measured in the skin overlying the acupuncture points is
lower than the surrounding skin by a factor of approximately 10 to 1.
• The electrical currents run through every cell and tissue of the body. Wherever electrical
currents exist, a magnetic field is formed in the surrounding area. Electrical fields are due
to the presence of charged particles, such as electrons, while magnetic fields are due to
the movement of these charged particles, such as an electron current.
• Qi is a form of magnetic field.
• Channel (Meridian) is a pathway of magnetic field.

How magnet or acupuncture works.

• Magnet or acupuncture therapy may allow new energy to enter into channels
where an energy deficit exist. Conversely, acupuncture point stimulation may also
release excessive energy by providing a kind of safety release valve which allows
excessive flow to be diverted from overloaded meridian circuits.

Tonification: allows new energy to enter

Direction of channel

Sedation: releases excessive energy

Magnetic therapy as a non-invasive
healing modality
• Unlike X-rays, dyes, radioactive substances, exposure to electrical currents, and
acupuncture, magnetic treatment are completely noninvasive.
• Electromagnetic energy directed through damaged cells under precise conditions
causes the cells to regenerate, a principle that has been applied for accelerating
the rate at which broken bones mend.
- Becker, Cross Currents, P. 42-
• The therapeutic use of magnets is not so simple as just taping a magnet to the body
or placing a magnetic patch over a problematic area. The strength of the magnet,
the pole that is placed against the skin, and the area on which the magnet is placed
all make a difference.
• Significant aspect of working with magnets is that the formula that will help patient
one day may not help after the magnets have shifted one’s energy field (meridian) :
recommended to remove magnets after attachment for 6 ~ 12 hours.

Magnetic therapy combined with
Oriental Medicine
Of all the healing modalities, acupuncture is probably the one most closely connected
with magnetic healing. The meridian system that acupuncturists use in their work often
seems to be activated by magnetic stimulation of acupuncture points. People experiencing
magnetic therapy frequently report that they feel a tingling up and down the body, along
what appears to be an acupuncture meridian. Magnetic treatments are harmonious with
acupuncture, so one can needle or magnetically stimulate any meridian point and
simultaneously treat the corresponding organ or gland with a magnet.
- Buryl Payne, Ph.D., Magnetic Healing-

• I tape permanent magnet on the acupuncture point to balance meridian system

by either providing or draining magnetic field after comprehensive diagnosis of where
field (Qi) has become deficient or excess.

Magnetic Acupuncture
• The subtle energies flowing through the meridians are not electrical in nature, but
they are able to induce electrical fields and currents because of their magnetic
properties. This energy, known to Qi, is actually a manifestation of the life force
which animates and energizes living systems. When the flow of life energy to a particular
organ is deficient or unbalanced, patterns of cellular disruption occur.
