BANK PROFILE

Punjab National Bank, India’s first Swadeshi Bank, commenced its operations on April
12, 1895 from Lahore, with an authorised capital of Rs 2 lac and working capital of Rs
20,000. The far-sighted visionaries and patriots like Lala Lajpat Rai, Mr. E C Jessawala,
Babu Kali Prasono Roy, Lala Harkishan Lal and Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia displayed
courage in giving expression to the spirit of nationalism by establishing the first bank
purely managed by the Indians with Indian Capital.
HISTORY
Punjab National bank was registered on 19 May 1894 under the Indian companies Act
with its office in Anarkali Bazaar, Lahore. The founding board was drawn from different
parts of India professing different faiths and a varied background with, however, the
common objective of providing country with a truly national bank which would further
the economic interest of the country PNB’s founders included several leaders of the
Swadeshi movement such as Dyal Singh Majithia and Lala Harkishan Lal , Lala
Lalchand , Shri kali Prosanna Roy, Shri E.C Jessawala, Shri Prabhu Dayal, Bakshi Jaishi
Ram and Lala Dholan Dass.

The board first met on 23 May 1894. The bank opened for business on 12 April 1895 in
Lahore.

Punjab National Bank is an Indian Multinational banking and financial services company.
It is a state owned corporation based in New Delhi, India. Founded in 1894 the bank has
over 6,300 branches and over 7900 ATMs across 764 cities. It serves over 80 Million
customers.

e-commerce facilities, buy ticket and much more.
3. It has more than 3700 ATMS all over the country and has the wide ATM network.
4. It struggle for spreading the branches all over the world including sub-continent,
Europe and USA, and Punjab National Bank will fulfill the requirement of every state.
5. It achieved many awards and achievement like “Niryat bandhu bronze trophy”,
“Excellent performance in lending under PMEGP scheme”, “Skoch Challenge Award”
and many other awards proving to be an attainable and trustful bank.

Services
1. Punjab National Bank facilitate home loan to save interest cost, usually Punjab
National Bank offers 75% to 80% as home loan.
2. Also offers car finance to the minimum monthly amount with low interest.
Furthermore, it offers cooperate banking which includes loan against future lease rentals,
EXIM Finance, Cash Management Services and Gold card scheme for exporters.
3. It also offers a lot of facilities for personal banking like saving fund account, current
account, fixed deposit schemes, credit schemes, ATM Card, Nomination Facilities and
deceasedclaimcases.
4. It is famous for the helper of poor and needy people like farmers, this bank facilitate
farmers to avail Krishi Card, agriculture credit schemes, Punjab National Bank welfare
trust.

FINDINGS

In this study following finding were emerged:


 Majority of respondents belongs to the age group 40-50 years .
 Majority of the respondents are post-graduation i.e. 37.5%.
 Majority of respondents are male i.e. 62.5 %.
 Majority of respondents are getting the salary above 30000.
 Majority of respondents are equal i.e. 50% are married & 50 % are unmarried .
 Majority of respondents i.e. 40% respondent.
 Majority of respondents i.e. 37.5% respondents are highly dis- satisfactory with
working environment.
 Majority of the respondent i.e., 32.5% respondents are highly dis- satisfactory
with working hours.
 Majority of the respondent i.e62.5% respondents say yes towards regular
increments.
 Majority of the respondent i.e.,62.5% respondents say yes towards providing
maternity leave to female employees .
 Majority of the respondent i.e., 55% respondents say yes towards providing good
services in canteen.
 Majority of the respondent i.e., 62.5% respondents say yes towards offers
sufficient no. of toilets .
 Majority of the respondent i.e., 75% respondents say yes towards providing rest
room and lunch room facility.
 Majority of the respondent i.e.,62.5% respondents say no towards company takes

CONCLUSION

The study entitled A STUDY ON EMPLOYEE WELFARE AT PNB BANK


HAMIRPUR (H.P.) Aims to find out the employees awareness and satisfaction level
with respect to the various welfare schemes, working condition and social security
schemes provided by the company.
Though the company has started 10 years back the welfare measures, working
conditions and social security schemes, which are provided for employees are
satisfactory. The staff and employees need more friendly relationship with the
management.
Suggestion and recommendations are also included in the project. It is
concluded that this project will be very much helpful to the management to impart better
welfare measures, working condition and social security schemes to the employees.

SUGGESTIONS
Most of the employees are satisfied with the existing welfare schemes
provided by the company. The following recommendations will be helpful to the
management to improve the awareness as well as to improve the satisfaction level of
employees.
1. The Management shall arrange more programmers to improve the employee’s
awareness about the welfare measures working conditions and social security schemes.
2.The Management can take necessary steps to provide job security to trainees. Also the
Management shall consider providing welfare measures to the trainees.
3. The Management shall consider providing uniforms to all employees. Hence the
employees can feel their belongingness towards the organization.
4. The company can improve the recreational facilities being offered to the employees.
5. The company can provide more extra mural welfare services.
6. The management shall conduct regular meetings and allow the employees to participate
in it. It will help to improve the employee employer relationship.
7. The company may arrange more transport facilities to the employees, particularly to
those are coming for night shifts.
8. A Co-operative society shall be provided for the employees so that they can purchase
essential goods at reasonable price.
9. The Management can provide better quality and variety of food in the canteen. Also,
they shall arrange filtered and chilled water.
10. Library facility should be provided to employees for improving their knowledge.
11. The company shall provide necessary lunch room and rest room facilities to all the
employees.
