The Avíos in The Textile Industry
The Avíos in The Textile Industry
Like the selection of the textile bases, the choice of the avios is strategic in confection,
since it allows to elevate the concepts of fashion and the quality of the garments to be
commercialized. The avíos in textile confection are called materials that complement a
garment and give it greater prominence, during the manufacturing process or in the
finished product. Closures, lace, buttons, interlinings, ribbons, biases, taches, among
others are clear examples of this type of inputs.
The avios of the product in final finish are part of the presentation and therefore must be
chosen according to the desired qualities in the material and of course following the
specifications and design features stipulated for a certain fashion production. Below is a
list of the most used avios in the manufacture:
1. Buttons: They are avios made of metal that are placed on the garment by means of a
riveting system, usually found in classic colors such as gold, bronze and silver that can
be minted in low or high relief according to the needs of design or identity corporate
These are classified as push buttons or simple buttons for riveting.
2. Zipper: They are inputs chosen preferably in metal for its high strength, its system of
toothed closure allows to join specific parts of the garments or depending on the designs
are part of the decoration. This accoutrement has a lock that in moments of tension
prevents the shooter from slipping out of the pants.
3. Rivets: In jeans, six metal rivets are usually used to reinforce the front pockets; these
accoutrements are now used as a support to register logos or isotypes, with the aim of
generating positioning and identification of the brands.
4. Metal berths:
They are a variant of the rivet that is used to reinforce the back pockets in the jeans, in
such a way that a greater resistance is provided to the piece designed.
5. Badana:
It is a label that sticks over the waistband on the back of the jeans, usually made from
leather, inside which the corporate insignia of a certain brand are placed in order to
grant identity to the garments. This accoutrement was introduced in 1886 by the firm
Levi's.
6. Label:
It is all graphic-descriptive material that is marked, placed or adhered to a garment with
the purpose of disclosing information regarding specific characteristics in everything
that has to do with articles or goods that in the case of clothing are directly related to
textiles and fashion design. These are classified into permanent and non-permanent
labels.
7. Rhinestones:
It is called rhinestones to all those elements that provide brightness to specific details
specified in the design pieces, these can be adhered or sewn on the denim surface using
transfer or embroidery techniques respectively, in such a way that a greater aesthetic
value can be given to jeanswear garments, the application of this type of detail allows
them to be combined with allegories to generate a visual impact. Crystals, adhesive
glitter, metallic studs, plastic elements or epoxies are several examples that can be used
to give better finished items.
8. Allegories:
These are hand-made or automated accessories that give greater prominence to the back
pockets of jeans, this is a decorative stitching used in both male and female cuts, today
given the techniques of manual making, allegories can be embroidered on sites where it
is sought to enhance and a much more personalized finish, the contrast effect of the
threads allows the development of an infinity of designs.
It is important that the garment designer learns to identify the different types of
accoutrements available in the market in order to find those that conform to the trends
and taste of the end user for whom they offer their work.
