different types of IEP meetings. I attended a transfer students IEP, several annual IEPS, a
triennial IEP, a referral IEP, a determination IEP and lastly and transition IEP. Throughout all of
these meetings I gained a large amount of information to better aid me in the future, when
attending IEP of my students. Each of these meetings were unique and provided a great
learning experience.
When going into and IEP meeting it is important that we all collaborate together to
reach mutual goals for the student so the student can receive the most appropriate level of
education. For each of the meets we had to work as a team to decide how we were going to
provide the student with a free appropriate education. For the most part each team member
was in agreement on which services, accommodations and modifications the student would
require. There were a few times one team member did not agree on the services,
accommodations and modifications and in the case we all collaborated to determine what we
all thought would work best for the student and how the student would feel about the specific
decision.
In conclusion going to these meets were very helpful. I was able to experience all
different kinds of IEP I may encounter in my future teaching career. After these meetings the
team members worked with me and explained why they came to the conclusion they did and
each case is unique and needs as be treated as so. I appreciated all the work the team
members put in to letting me be apart of the team as fresh eyes may provide some another
way of providing services for a student. Overall after having these experiences I can say I am
more confident in collaborating with service providers and other staff members to meet the
unique needs of all children. I also feel more confident in going in to an IEP meeting to provide
