 What is ordinal measurement; what is higher ordinal measurement?

Ordinal measurement is a measurement scale where you can sort the observations,
but it do not inform about the difference between sort values.
The higher ordinal measurement serves to analyze the similarity between a pair of
entities.

 What operations and what statistical tests are allowed on measurements of

ordinal level?

o To count the elements.

o Mean, median, mode, quartiles, deciles, centiles.
o Equality and inequality.
o Besides being grater or less than.
o Correlation test.

 Can categorical measurements be upgraded to ordinal level?

It can be upgraded but not very common. Could be done using “Gutmann
scalogram procedure”.

 Can ordinal measurements be upgraded to interval level?

It is possible to do that upgrade since it is changed from something greater to

smaller, using “Likert scale procedure”.
