PRESENT PROGRESSIVE VS SIMPLE PRESENT
Function:
We use the simple present to talk about things that are generally true or are permanent
situations.
We use present progessive to talk about things that are happening right now ora round now.
*Note: We don’t use the present progressive with states verbs. State verbs are verbs that:
- Describe feeling, e.g. like, love, hate, need, etc.
- Express thoughts and opinions, e.g. know, think, want,, understand,, mean, etc.
- Refer to the senses, e.g. see, hear, smell, taste.
- Express possession, e.g. belong, have, etc.
