A Reflection of Poetry

The things most opposite us

tend to be insightful—
they have eyes that look for what we won’t.
With these eyes,
poetry provides perspective:
a frustrating escape of a better understanding
of ourselves, and our world.
This understanding adds subtly to our
collective consciousness of humanity;
of love,
and of hate,
and of every seemingly insignificant
feeling in between.
