Counting from any given number

Lesson Overview/Rationale:
Students will be able to count from any number given to them. They will continue to count until
they reach 100. Students will be put into groups of three.
Curriculum Framework/Standard:
“Count forward beginning from a given number within the known sequence (instead of having to
begin at 1)”. Page 11
Learning Objectives:
 Students will be able to count from any given number.
 Students will demonstrate their counting skill by starting from numbers other than one.
 Students will count to 100.
Technology Uses:
 Tablet
 Smart board
Materials:
 white board
 Magnet numbers
 Notebook
 pencils
Procedure:
 Teacher will use the smart board and write numbers with the smart pen.
 Students will identify the number given and start counting.
 Students will then play the popcorn game.
 Teacher will call on one student to start the game they pick a number until the teacher
says stop. Then the student will call another student and so on until they all get a turn and
reach to 100.
 Students then will go to groups of three.

 Student will get the white board and magnet numbers. Student one will start with one
number put it on the board, then pass it on to student 2 to finish from the number shown
on the board, student three will then take the board change the number and start counting
from there. Then they keep going until they reach 100.
 Students will then use the tables to write the number onto paint document. Student one
will draw a number onto paint then start counting until student two and three say stop.
Student two will then take the tablet and do the same so will student three until they reach
100.
 Each student will then on there own choose a number from 10 to 30 and write it on their
notebook until they reach 100.
Assessment:
 I walked around the group work and look at their white board to see if they are writing
down a number and counting from that number. Also, I will see if each of the students
are taking turns. If I see a group who are still not on the right track I will sit with them
and help them.
 I will look at their notebooks to see if they have applied what they learned into the
notebook.
