Pershing County Alumni Association meeting minutes

Time: 5:15 pm

Attendees: Joan Duncan, Jerry Atkinson, Mackenzie Hodges, Karen Wesner, and Doreen Munk.

Agenda items

1. Minutes: May 22, 2017, minutes approved.

2. Association Webpage/Facebook: Update as needed. Post “events” and link 5K events to Facebook.
Post announcements for class reunions.

3. Event: Alumni will be held on June 9, 2018.

4. Invitations: Jerry will make changes to the 2018 invitation. She will e-mail the invitation to the
board to proof-read and approve. Upon approval, print and mail invitations to PCHSAA. Changes:
Music will be provided for your enjoyment. Members have a choice of chicken or beef. Fees
increase after June 1, 2018.

5. Food: Send letters to caterers for dinner bids: Julie Meyers, VJ, and Cowpoke. Have double serving
lines to have the meal go faster.

6. Entertainment: Contact various DJ’s for music.

7. Linens: Last year’s linens were never picked up by Vougue Linen. Consider paper/plastic for tables
and small center-pieces this year.

8. Alcohol: Joan will inventory 2017 alcohol in storage.

9. Alumni Scholarship: Seek scholarship applications from the 2018 graduating class. The 2017
scholarship recipients were as follows: Valedictorian: Benjamin Shirley $1,500, Salutatorian: Loree
Brimage $1,000, Two trade school scholarships: Lorin Oberman and Stephen Reese each $375. Two
general scholarships: Glenda Christiansen and Elena Robles each $750, and Grads Giving Back/5K
scholarships: Erica Holland and Madeline Gonzalez each $750.

10. Hall of Fame: Seek new inductees to the Hall of Fame.

11. Grads Giving Back/Mustang 5K: The PCHSAA committee decided not to take on the leadership
of Grads Giving Back and the Mustang 5K. After 5 years, they are looking for new leadership. If
anyone is interested, please contact the alumni association or Rachel Levitt for more information.
