This document proposes a digital control method for a boost converter to optimize power extraction from a piezoelectric energy harvester. It involves modeling the piezoelectric harvester and using a digital controller implemented on an FPGA to dynamically tune the boost converter operating frequency to match the harvester's resonant frequency, thereby maximizing power output. Experimental validation showed the digital control method was effective at extracting up to 54.6% more power from the harvester compared to a standard boost converter operating at a fixed frequency.
