Negative Form

The structure of simple past in negative form is:

Subject + didn’t or did not + infinitive verb


This applies to regular verbs as in irregular, in the same way as in the simple present we don’t
add “s” to the third person in a negative sentences because we use doesn’t, in the negative
sentences on simple past with the regular verbs we don’t add -ed and with the irregulars we
don’t add the second column of the table but the first. Why? Because we already indicated that
is past with didn’t.
EXAMPLES OF SIMPLE PAST IN NEGATIVE
I didn’t remember where i was
You didn’t buy the ingredients
He didin’t speak Russian
They didn’t write a letter to her
She didn’t wash the car
Columbus didn’t reach america in 1789
Negative Form
The structure of past continuous in negative form is:

subject + wasn’t (or wasnot) / weren’t (were not) + verb –ing

I was not / wasn’t watching a flim
You were not / weren’t watching a film
He was not / wasn’t watching a film
She was not / wasn’t watching a film
We were not / weren’t watching a film
You were not / weren’t watching a film
