As I watched Justin throughout the day in his classroom, I noticed he created a positive and friendly

environment. He greeted all the parents and the children with a warm welcome into the classroom. The parents
were very happy to see him as they dropped off their children for the day. The children seemed very comfortable
to be there, going off to play right away.

After breakfast is finished, Justin began an activity. He had already places chairs in a certain area of the
classroom, the children are about to participate in “Musical Chairs”. The children are all very excited to see what
Justin had planned for them as I watched him organize the children into the appropriate places. I watched as Justin
explained all the rules of the game to the children. The children all participated with their peers and they followed
the directions that were set forth. The children listened to Justin as he directed them to the designated part of the
room, as they were eliminated from the game. All the children had fun!

Justin prepared an art project “Humpty Dumpty” and during the planned time all the children came over
to the art tables. Before starting the project with the children he set the supplies on the table. He explained to the
children that they are going to put Humpty Dumpty back together again, by using the supplies that were on the
table. The children were very excited to jump in and make their project as I watch them build Humpty Dumpty
they were all doing the very best they can. They all didn’t look the same but all completed the project.

I watched the last activity for the day and it was to read the book “The Gingerbread Boy”. I watched as
the children sat very intensely as Justin read the book. He kept asking open ended questions as the story
continued on. After the story was over Justin asked a question to the children of what would you add to the
Gingerbread Boy to make it your own? All the children had the chance to answer the question as he went to each
of them one by one. He also asked for the children to add their own peace of the Gingerbread Boy? All the
children participated.

In closing my day of observing Justin was positive. All the activities were well planned out and he kept the
children engaged. The classroom was organized and he followed a schedule. All the children knew what to expect,
making for some smooth transitions from one activity to the next. The few pickups that happened before Justin
clocked out were very pleasant. There is open communication between Justin and the families in the classroom.
