Blood Splatter Analyst

Education and/or Training Required:

 High School diploma or GED, Bachelor’s degree in forensic science and biology (double major is
preferred), on the job training with a senior blood splatter analyst, completion of basic blood
pattern analysis/interpretation course
 George Washington University, Michigan State University, New York University
 Out of state college costs typically range from $32,616 to $39,436 for a small college

Daily Activities and Responsibilities:

 Examine blood left behind at a crime scene


 Collect evidence from the scene
 Take photographs and use swabs and UV lights to find trace amounts of blood
 Create detailed reports by computer simulations and analysis
 Recreate blood splatter in laboratory
 Confirm or deny assumptions made about the crime and/or the suspects

2024) by 24%
