What’s wrong with it? - Describing problems
We usually use participles as adjectives or nouns to describe
problems with things we have/buy

Stain Stained A stained

scratches on it.
The car is dented.

It has some dents on it.


It is an old curtain
and the colors have
faded.
Oh, no! The door is jammed (
stuck) .

The DVD tray of my laptop is


not working. I think it’s
jammed.
The faucet / tap is leaking.

There is a leak in it.


The pencil is
broken.

It has a broke in it.


The keyboard is
burned.

There is a burn on it.


Choose an appropriate adjective for each problem

The jeans are chipped / torn / broken.

The CD is broken / scratched / torn.

The car seat is faded / cracked / stained.

The mug is dented / cracked / chipped.
