● Code of conduct
-Be professional
-Be respectful of others ideas
-Use work time efficiently and effectively
-Don’t spam
-Update others and include everyone (don’t forget to click on reply all)
● Communication
○ Frequency: Respond to all forms of communication every 12 hours or if possible.
○ Method: Email, group text.
● File Management
○ Naming system: Name files according to the items they portray - make it easy to find
and understand for others. Include version of part. (don’t leave part name as part 1 or
part 2) (Ex: Hole7v1)
○ Revision: If a revision is made to a part file, notify other group members of the change
and save as a new saved file. (Ex: Hole7v1 -> Hole7v2)

Step 1: Define the Problem

Client : Mall of America Target Consumer : Mall patrons 6-75 years old

Problem Statement : The Mall of America in Minneapolis, MN has designated an area of mall space to
construct an indoor mini-golf course. Mall of America executives have placed a call for design concepts
from the leading design firms across the United States. Your design team will be one of several teams
who will pitch a design concept to MOA execs. The winning concept will receive the contract to design
and build a state of the art mini-golf course in the MOA.

Design Statement: Competing design teams will submit 9-hole mini-golf course design concept
illustrating the team’s overall idea for a mini-golf theme that will attract mall patrons.
Constraints:
1. All holes within a group must have a consistent theme.
2. Entire mini golf course cannot exceed 12,000 square feet.
3. Each hole cannot exceed 25’ x 20’. (Suggestion: Create each hole base with 25’by 20’ by 1’)
4. Holes can have elevated features up to 5’, but appropriate safety precautions must be taken.
5. All components of the hole must be less than 5’ tall.
6. Pathways as needed to move from hole to hole must be a minimum of 36” wide.
7. Each hole assembly must use a base, tee-off pad (provided by the Project Manager), and
scoring podium (provided by the Project Manager).
8. Each hole assembly will include a walking path part file that provides access to the previous and
next holes, also all other part files needed for the design of the whole.
Remember when transferring files, it is ESSENTIAL you know what version of Inventor is being used AND
ALL PARTS MUST BE WITH THE ASSEMBLY.
9. All 3D modeling should be done to FULL SCALE. Be mindful of scale and units!

Step 2: Generate Concepts

● Preliminary sketches from all team members (Be sure to include annotation or descriptions as
necessary to be able to fully communicate your ideas)

Step 3: Develop a Solution
Roles Responsibilities - (All Responsibilities subject to
change)
Project Manager: Anna Lynn Tee-Off Pad, scoring podium, assembly of holes,
central feature

Design Engineer: Sam Helmkampf Hole 1 - 3

Design Engineer: Noah Unger Hole 4-5

Design Engineer: Danika Li Hole 6-7

Design Engineer: Camille Yang Hole 8-9

THEME: BEACH
Hole dimensions:
Base depth: .5ft
Walkways: 3 ft across, extrude 1 inch
Hole depth: 4 inches deep
Hole diameter: 4.25 inches
Path thickness: 1 in
Grass thickness: 4 in
Walkway material: river stone blue

terms to refer to?

Later on, we could also add a ~3” tall ~3” wide lip around the playing area (not the rectangle space) to
separate it out from the rest of the space and so the ball doesn’t go anywhere
Beach themed stuff- palm trees, chairs, crabs, shells, umbrella, shark
● Identify team roles and divide all work for the project up amongst teammates
● Use a decision matrix to determine which teammates design will be used.
● Create sketches as needed to document all ideas.
● Establish a Entry/Exit Diagram of entire course layout.
6 votes per category for each person: ok so l would have 6 votes for difficulty, desirability, etc. I wanted
to split it up ann 2, camille 2, noah 1, and danika 1. Then i do the same for the next category as i see fit
and then every totals up the votes
For difficulty does that mean like the more votes it is the more difficult? Or the more votes the easier? I
was thinking more votes means easier so more votes is better. For time is it the same? Yes
Criteria Ideas: difficulty, desirability, complexity,

Step 5: Evaluate Solution

● Each member will complete an individual project evaluation/reflection and submit it to your
specific teacher. Ladue will submit via weebly and Clayton will submit via canvas.
● This section on the digital notebook will ultimately say “See individual group member
evaluations”
Consider the following prompts to help guide your reflection. Be sure to provide insightful comments.
There should be at least one paragraph reflecting on each topic below.

Topic 1: Engineering Concepts Learned/Applied

● What is a Gantt chart and how can it be utilized for large projects? Was it beneficial for
this project? How so? If it was created and then never looked at again by you and your
teammates why? How could it have been beneficial?
● Describe why professionals will utilize a decision matrix to make important decisions?

Topic 2: Teamwork, Organization, Work ethic, Communication, Team Norms

● How did this project go for you overall? Did you and your partners work well together?
Why or why not?
● Did establishing team norms prior to beginning the actual work of the project help
build understanding of expectations for each other?
● What is at least one thing your group could have done better in this project?

Topic 3: Your Solution

● How does your design compare to the other groups? Do you see something that you
wish you would have added into your design?
Step 6: Present Solution
● Link to group presentation
