I am writing on behalf of Tara LaRusso. I had the privilege of teaching Tara in my Honors English 10 Literature class. In class, she was astute in her observations and followed directions expediently and accurately. She was diligent and detail-oriented in her tasks, making her one of my best students. For one assignment, students worked in small groups to analyze a text. The assignment required authentic collaboration, communication, and persistence; Tara surpassed all of these expectations. Her group in particular consisted of unyielding, intellectual personalities. However, Tara was able to lead her group and inspire teamwork among her peers. This synergistic mentality is typical of Tara.
Undoubtedly, her group members recognized Tara’s ability to combine ingenuity with academic excellence. Notably, Tara made insightful connections between daily lessons and the world and applied her knowledge to new situations. She was not afraid to ask questions and delve deeper into material. All of this has translated into her being inducted into the National Honor Society and receiving academic honor roll consecutively for four years.
In addition to maintaining academic rigor and excellence, Tara spends much of her time in the water. She is a member of the Tide Swim Team as well as our school swim team. This requires a considerable time commitment. Often Tara would arrive to my class at 7:15 am after finishing one of two or more swim practices in the day. While other students slept, Tara was dedicating time to a physically and mentally demanding athletic pursuit.
Tara shows consideration for her peers and is an exemplary student and athlete with outstanding communication and listening skills. These skills ensure her success within your institution. Please consider her for admission.
Respectfully,
