Graduation Requirements and Information

Graduation Requirements
A. Number of credits for graduation is 34, including:
(1) Elective course : 18 elective credits
(2) Seminar Course: 4 required credits
(3) Dissertation: 12 required credits

Information about transferred credits

The total credits transferred shall not exceed the 2/3 of required credits for the specialized course implemented
by this DAA PhD regulation. Students shall submit the form of Application for Credit Transfer to the
department office no later than two weeks after the beginning of the first semester.

Information about elective credits

A. In general, each course is 3 credits. You have to select course to reach 18 credits.

B. The elective credits are not have any limitations. You can select any course in NCKU, including another
department credits. The course must for Master / Doctor.

Information about seminar course

Seminar course is 4 required credits, each semester has select one course and get 1 credits.
This is the course below, and you should selected one for each semester.
A. First semester
1. Seminar (1) →This is for first year.
2. Seminar (3) →This is for second year.
B. Second semester
1. Seminar (2) →This is for first year.
2. Seminar (4) →This is for second year.
Select the four course before you graduate.
C. After second year. You also need to select the course【Seminar】which is 0 credit.

Information about Dissertation examination

A. The Ph.D. students need to complete the following requirements to apply dissertation examination.
1. Completed the graduation 18 elective credits. (Please hand in your transcript.)
2. Pass Doctor Candidates examination.
3. Pass Doctor Dissertation arraignment.
4. Academic years and paper published requirements below,
※P+Y 6 , (P1). P is the number of the SCI paper accepted/published. Y is the total academic year enrolled
for PhD Program. Contents of the published paper should be included in the PhD thesis, and at least one of
the published/accepted paper is co-authored by the candidate solely and his/her advisor.

B. Dissertation is 12 required credits. Ph.D. will get the credits by passing the examination
