Different Styles of Art

Think about the last few art pieces you have seen. What did they look like? Realistic?

Abstract? Cartoony? Throughout the world, present and past, a myriad of art styles have been

created and are used by artists to this very day. Some of these styles reach beyond two

dimensional forms into three dimensional sculptures, some of well known and loved cartoons,

and others more freely abstract.

Sculptures are very unique to begin with the very fact that they are three dimensional. A

work of art that is three dimensional is tangible, or perceptible by touch. With sculptural art, one

can have multiple perspectives to intensify the experience. Sculptural art can freeze a moment in

time or change meaning with every breath.

Abstract art is random, with no direction but still can tell a very detailed and authentic

story. Abstract is a wonderful way of expressing emotion with no boundaries. The true beauty of

abstract art is that it cannot be bottled and is free like the air we breath. Abstract enters our lives

as youngsters and is carried along throughout our lives.

Cartoony art is a playful way to tell a story. It can be comical, non conforming to

human form but still be emotionally driven. It can have realism qualities with the added

incentives of colorful embellishment. Cartoony art finds its way into the hearts of small children

and adults alike. Cartoons allow one to escape our reality and play in our wildest dreams.

Whether the work seen is a three dimensional sculpture, two dimensional character, or

free ranging abstract, it is still art portrayed in varying styles.
