“American Dreaming”

The American Dream, to many it seems an achievement to seek

Goals to strive for, making hearts heavy and knees weak

A dream in which one may chase until the end

However, a dream is all that one is left with to fend

Glorified at best with stress common to detest

Impressive material wealth is all they care one to possess.

With calculated opinions to be better than everyone is what it seems

This procured image of the American Dream.

And if one were to dream of something a little less

Condemned foolish and lazy, and ultimately dismissed.

With eyes up to the skies and heads full of dreams

Sometimes it is forgotten to live and what that means.

Whether smooth, humble, or pompous

To freely be oneself shouldn’t be so cautious

The American Dream is just a dream

You don’t have to be the richest someone just to be something
