Non Fiction Response: m&m

1. The advertisement lists positive things that start with the letter ‘m’. They then claim that

good things begin with the letter ‘m’.

2. I can connect this to other m&m advertisements.

3. The author’s purpose is to persuade. A specific phrase that led me to this conclusion is

“Everything great starts with ‘m’,” (m&m).

4. The audience is people who want to buy candy. I know because it it an advertisement.

The choice of audience causes the company to speak well of their product.

5. The most relevant detail is the positive statement, “Everything great starts with ‘m’,”

(m&m).

6. Logos is the most prevalent in the writing. The author exercises their credibility by

working for m&m.

a. “Mom, music, money, miracle,” (m&m).

b. “Everything great starts with ‘M’,”(m&m).

c. “m&m’s,” (m&m).

7. The three previous quotes indicate that the theme is ‘m&ms are good and you should buy

them’.

8. This helped me understand that m&ms are a good candy.

9. I wouldn’t change anything; the ad is simple and witty.

10. OPTION 2: People should buy m&ms. m&ms should be the preferred candy because

they are great. For example the advertiser says, “Everything great starts with ‘M’,”

(m&m). Because m&m candies start with the letter ‘M’, they are great. Because m&ms

are great, people should buy them.
