“PlanetFall” Warhammer 40,000

PlanetFall Warhammer 40,000 is a format for Narrative Play events. PlanetFall will consist of 3 games of
Warhammer 40,000.

Narrative Theme
The planet that emerged from the Warp in the A Shot In The Dark event is still floating at the edge of the
galaxy. The scout forces deployed to recon the planet surface disturbed something there. They broke
open tunnels that had been sealed for years and released clouds of dark ash & smoke that acted as a
shroud for titanic monsters.

The scout forces were recalled to their respective bases, ships, fleets, or homeworlds. They were unable
to deal with the monsters unleashed on the planet’s surface.

Now the commanders are sending larger forces to the planet; forces that can weather the monstrous
attacks better than the small scouting forces. Something of value is down on the planet, all can agree on
that much, and each force wants to be the first to find it, the first to exploit whatever advantages &
resources the planet might provide.

Army Construction
All forces must be Battle-Forged, made up of legal Detachments, and may contain a maximum of 75
Power Level worth of models.

Command Points, Strategems, Warlord Traits, and Artefacts/Relics/Etc will be generated and used as per
the normal Warhammer 40,000 rules.

Victory Conditions, Warlords, Game Rules

• If one player has no models on the table, then his/her opponent immediately receives the Event
Points that a Major Victory would give them in the mission being played.
NOTE: This does not prevent the other player from also achieving a mission Victory, if they have
achieved Mission objectives before being wiped out. If one player has no models left on the
table, his/her opponent must still play out the remaining turns. This is done for purposes of
fulfilling victory conditions such as holding objectives or destroying strategic targets.
• Games will have a length of 5 Turns.
• The player who finishes deploying first receives a +1 bonus to the starting roll for the game.
• The winner of each game will be determined by the individual Mission parameters. The winner
of the event will be the player with the highest Event Points score at the conclusion of the
event. He/she will be the Event Champ (See the Prize Support & Champs entry below for
details). Event Points are earned through the Missions themselves, or by completing Battle
Achievements over the course of all the games.

Battle Achievements
Each player will earn Event Points over the course of the event. All Event Points are cumulative, and can
be earned by winning Missions, or by completing Achievements. Event Points earned via Achievements
contribute to the player’s overall score, regardless of whether they won their Mission or not.
Bring Out The Big Guns! --- 1 Event Point.
Field 4 Heavy Support choices. Can be achieved only once during the event.

Look Your Best --- 1 Event Point.

All your models are fully painted. Can be achieved only once during the event. The criteria for what’s
considered “fully painted” will be determined by the Event Organizer. Models don’t have to be award-
winning, but three dots of color on a white-primed figure is not going to cut it. :)

Lead From the Front --- 1 Event Point.

One of your Character models destroys an enemy unit in the Fight phase. (Losing models to Morale does
not count. The Character must be the one to deliver the wounds.) Can be achieved multiple times.

Lead By Example --- 1 Event Point.

One of your Character models destroys an enemy unit in the Shooting phase. Can be achieved multiple
times.

Glory Hound --- 1 Event Point.

One of your Character models destroys an enemy unit composed of models that all have the Vehicle
keyword. This can be in any phase, and is cumulative with Lead from the Front and Lead By Example.

Guns for Days --- 1 Event Point.

Finish Turn 5 with all the Heavy Support units in your army still on the table. Only the original units
count. If a stratagem or other ability allows you to set up a new unit or remove a unit & then return it to
the table, that does not count for the purposes of this Achievement.

There may be additional, Mission-specific Achievements. These will be detailed in the Missions
themselves.

Painting & Hobby Competition

• During the course of the event, in a break between games, all players will have the opportunity
to submit one (1) of the models included in their army for the painting competition.
• The model with the best combination of painting, modeling, converting, etc… will be selected as
the Hobby Champ for the event.

Prize Support & Champs

• If the event includes any Prize Support provided by the hosting store, it will be divided as
follows:
o The Hobby Champ will receive 50% of the prize support.
o The Event Champ will receive 50% of the prize support.
o The same player cannot win both categories. Because this is a Narrative Play event
focusing on hobby, fun, and casual play, the Hobby Champ will be chosen and
announced first. This means that it’s possible for the same player to win the best
painted vote at the halfway mark, and also end the event with the most Event Points. If
that happens, the player with the next-highest Event Points total will be named Event
Champ.
