In this fieldwork, we were able to acquire the knowledge in getting
the area of a rectilinear field by staking a central station and reading the horizontal angle. A certain area in the Intramuros walls was measured using a theodolite inside the area where the distance of the points to instrument were also measured along with the horizontal angles between them. With this distances, triangles were formed with the sides of the polygon and their area was computed using the formula 1/2absinϴ and the total area was equal to the sum of the areas of the triangles which is 46.335m2 . At first the group had errors in measuring the horizontal angle and area but we were able to learn how to properly use the theodolite. We also learned how to measure the area of a polygon without moving the instrument at different points and triangulation method. Members should have good eyesight when reading the measurements to avoid or lessen the errors in recording the data.
