(4) Notes

(i) Advanced Preferences

The "Options" menu in Call of Duty 2 allows you to adjust a number of
different graphic, sound, and general performance settings. This menu
is useful
for fine-tuning both the visual quality and overall game performance, in
order
to maximize player enjoyment and ensure smooth play. Call of Duty 2
automatically
detects system hardware and sets all values to optimal settings,
taking into account
your system's processor speed, available system RAM, video card
power, video RAM, and
various other factors. You may wish to modify these settings, and this
section is
intended to be a guide to each setting and the impact of changing it.

1. OPTIONS > SYSTEM > GRAPHICS

Video Mode

Allows you to set the screen resolution for the game. IMPORTANT
NOTE: You should
not adjust your in-game screen resolution to a setting beyond what
your monitor can
support. You should consult your monitor's documentation in order to
learn about
supported resolutions.

Screen Refresh Rate

Allows you to change the refresh rate of your monitor. WARNING: Do

not set a refresh
rate that is higher than your monitor supports! Check with your
monitor's manufacturer
to see all available refresh rates in all resolutions.

Aspect Ratio

Allows you to adjust the aspect ratio of the game. Wide 16:9 and Wide
16:10 are for
widescreen monitors. If you are unsure of what setting to pick, you can
use the "Auto"
setting to allow the game to pick for you.

Texture Filter

Allows you to choose between bilinear, trilinear and Anisotropic

filtering for all in-game
textures. If you have a lower-end video card, you should choose
bilinear.

Anti-Alisasing

Allows you to adjust anti-aliasing settings. 4x is the maximum setting.

However, users
experiencing performance issues may want to reduce this to 2x, or
OFF. Turning on
high quality rendering and anti-aliasing on video cards with 128 MB or
less VRAM may
cause graphic glitches.

Rendering Method Preference

Allows users to switch between Normal, High, and Auto. Users unsure
as to which is correct
should choose AUTO.

Brightness

Allows you to control the brightness ("gamma") level in the game.

Move the slider to
the right to increase the gamma, or to the left to decrease.

Sync Every Frame

Setting this option to "Yes" will synchronize the game's redraw rate
with your monitor's
refresh rate. This will minimize graphical "tearing" at the expense of
some performance.
Shadows

Toggles shadows on and off. Disabling shadows may increase

performance.

*Please note that the shadows option is not available on intel Macs
yet due to a compatibility
issue that we are working to resolve. Please see our support site for
updates.

Number Of Dynamic Lights

Allows you to adjust the amount of Dynamic Lights in the game. A

lower setting will improve
performance at the expense of visual quality.

Number Of Corpses

Sets the number of corpses that remain on the battlefield during

gameplay. You can choose from
Tiny, Small, Medium, Large, and Insane settings. Consider reducing
this setting to help improve
game performance.

Texture Settings

This allows users to manually change Texture, Normal Map, and

Specular Map Resolution. Changing these
settings can significantly affect performace.

2. OPTIONS > SOUND

Master Volume

Controls the volume for music, sound effects, and voices. Move the
slider to the right to
increase the overall volume of the game.

3. GAME OPTIONS
Subtitles

This option will enable subtitles to appear whenever other characters

say things important
to gameplay.

Enable Crosshair

This enables or disables your crosshair.

Show Blood

This enables or disables blood effects in the game.

Enable Console

This enables or disables the console for inputting console commands.

Please note
Aspyr does not support the use of console commands.

4. OPTIONS > OPTIMAL SYSTEM SETTINGS

Select this to restore the auto-detect Optimal System Settings.

Display Configuration

If you have more than one display connected to your computer, holding
down the Command key while the game first starts up will show a
dialog which lets you select the display you want to play on. Also from
this dialog you can configure the game to run in a window instead of
full screen. (Window mode requires that your display be set to millions
of colors before running the game. Window mode is not available for
multiplayer games.)

When playing the game in a window, to gain access to normal Mac OS

functionality (windows, menus, etc.), pause the game and press
Command-T to toggle between the game and Mac OS modes.

(ii) One Button Mouse Information

When using a single-button Apple mouse, holding down CMD while
clicking the mouse will emulate a right-click.

(iii) Software Updates

For the latest up to date information on the Macintosh version of Call

of Duty 2, please visit Aspyr Media's website at www.aspyr.com.

(iv) Multiplayer Information

When running a server, the idle sleep should be turned off. Under
SYSTEM PREFERENCES -> ENERGY SAVER, drag the sliders all the way
to the right (NEVER). If your server goes to sleep, it will disconnect all
users.

Call Of Duty 2 allows you to play multiplayer games over a LAN (Local
Area Network) or the Internet using the game's built in game browser.
Network play requires the use of port number 28960. If your network is
using a firewall, this port may need to be open in order to play Call Of
Duty 2 over the Internet. You can find additional details here:

(v) Known Issues

a. For Portable Mac users

The user interface makes use of the Function row of keys (F1-F12)
which are enabled for different functions on portable Macs such as
contrast and volume control. These keys can still be used as Function
keys on PowerBooks and iBooks using a modifier key. The "fn" key, in
the lower left corner of any Mac portable's keyboard, has to be pressed
while the specific "F" key is also pressed to have that key act as the
Function key.

To change this, you can go to the System Preferences, and select

"Keyboard and Mouse". In "Keyboard" check the checkbox marked
"Use the F1-F12 Keys for custom actions". This will allow you to use
the function keys (F1-F12) without first pressing "fn" to get the desired
result.
b. Optimal Performance

On MacBooks, G5 PowerPC Desktops, and G5 iMacs, the processor

performance should be set to Highest to experience optimal
performance during gameplay. Under SYSTEM PREFERENCES ->
ENERGY SAVER -> OPTIONS -> PROCESSOR PERFORMANCE, select
HIGH. Processor performance set to Automatic allows a computer to
save energy. When it is turned on, the microprocessor's voltage, bus
speed, and clock speed are adjusted to answer the current demands
on the system. The advantage of this design is a longer battery life on
portable computers and fewer running fans on desktop computers
because of lower operating temperatures. However, using the energy
saving options during gameplay can affect your game performance.

c. Key Conflicts with Exposé

Some of your key commands may conflict with a feature of the Mac OS
called "Exposé". Although you can remap the keys for Exposé in
System Preferences, the default System Hotkeys for Exposé are not
bindable in Windowed mode.

Keys F10 - F12 are not bindable in Windowed mode, as the system
hotkeys overide the application. In any mode, SP or MP, F14 through
F16 and CapsLock are all unbindable keys.

d. LCD Screens

Due to the limitations of LCD screen technology, iMac users will not be
able to change their screen refresh rate.
