Ibrahim Helping Mum

Learning Goal:show respect, develop positive attitude and willingness to try different and
challenging activities.
Ibrahim’s mum came as a volunteer at the Annur
Childcare Centre. One day, she was helping to fold
the laundry. Ibrahim came into the room and saw his
mum folding the laundry. He asked his mum what
was she doing, and offered to help out. He sat down
beside his mum and took one of the cloth to fold. He
observed his mum and asked her to teach him how to
fold the cloth.

Masha Allah Ibrahim was able to follow step by step

instruction from his mum. He took another cloth to
fold. He tried to do it by himself but he struggled
folding a bigger cloth. He started to ask his mum for
help. With his mum’s guidance and lots of practice,
he was able to fold most of the laundry. He was very
proud after seeing all of the cloth folded nicely on the
table.

After lunch, Ibrahim saw his mum was cleaning the

table and offered to help. He took a cloth and
disinfectant spray and started to clean the table. I
asked his mum if he did the same at home, and mum
said yes, she encourage you to help her at home as
well. I was so impressed that you took part in caring
for the centre and helping your mum.Islam teaches
us to be kind to our mum and show respect.

In a Hadith: Imam as-Sadiq (peace be upon him) relates

that once a person approached the Noble Prophet (peace
be upon him and his family) and asked: “O’ Prophet of
Allah! Towards whom should I exhibit goodness and
kindness?” The Noble Prophet replied: “Towards your
mother.” The man then asked: “And after that towards
whom?” The Noble Prophet again said: “Your Mother.”
He asked again: “And then?” Once again, he replied:
“Your mother.” For the fourth time the man asked: “And
then?” This time he said: “(Then towards) Your father.”
