HALL COUNCIL DESCRIPTIONS:

President: ​assists all chairs and commissioners and communicates with hall staff to
ensure all events run smoothly.
Vice President: ​works closely with the president and assists all chairs and
commissioners.

Executive Board:​ advises a group of commissioners and works closely with the
President and VP
Body Chair:​ advises athletic, concession stand, McWell, snacks, spirit, and
Wellness Weekend commissioners.
Community Chair: ​advises big/little, coop crew, Crush Week, dance, holiday,
interhall relations, LHOP, off campus, Parents’ Weekend, and Winter Spirit Week
commissioners.
Logistics Chair: ​advises apparel, digital media, Lewsletter, ND Day,
photography, Potty Talk, Rocknes, hall decorator, and treasurer commissioners.
Mind Chair: ​advises academic, environmental, GRC, GreeNDot, multicultural,
ND Votes, and Givingmas commissioners.
Soul Chair: ​advises Chicks for Charity, faith and liturgical, hall retreat, Luce,
music ministry, and service commissioners.

Academic: ​plans monthly Chick Chats in the party room with a faculty guest speaker
and snacks. The topics vary each month and have included: women in STEM, theology,
studying abroad, and selecting a major.
Apparel: ​designs and sells Lewis apparel in the fall and spring along with any other
apparel for events hosted by Lewis.
Athletic: ​responsible for organizing all of Lewis interhall sports along with organizing
teams for hall athletic events such as the Keough Chariot Race and the Fisher Regatta.
Big/Little: ​responsible for matching a first year student with an upperclassman as part
of a mentorship program with events hosted throughout the year.
Chicks for Charity: ​one of Lewis’s signature events. Hosts a day long event where
Easter baskets are made for a local charity.
Concession Stand: ​responsible for organizing a concession stand for Lewis on a
football game day.
Coop Crew: ​a group of 8-10 first year students are paired with 2 upperclassmen and
meet throughout the year. The commissioners are responsible for planning events and
advising the mentors.
Crush Week: ​plan events throughout the week leading up to the Crush dance. Events
include serenading dates, hall dinner, and a Luau.
Dance: ​plans and organizes our formal and our SYR (Crush) dances.
Digital Media: ​manages all Lewis social media accounts, updates the website, and
creates videos for Lewis throughout the year.
Environmental: ​helps encourage Lewis chicks to be more sustainable by having
events throughout the year.
Faith and Liturgical: ​helps make sure everything is ready for mass on Sundays and
Wednesdays. Organizes interhall masses and events with Father Mike, our priest in
residence, called Pizza with Padre.
Givingmas: ​annual potluck between Thanksgiving and Christmas where chicks bring a
dish to share and have time to relax and bond before finals.
GRC: ​Gender Relations Council. Works with the campus wide GRC and informs chicks
of events going on.
GreeNDot: ​part of a campus wide club. Organizes bystander training and other events
that help educate and raise awareness for sexual assault and violence prevention.
Hall Decorator: ​decorates the lobby around holidays and the Welcome Weekend to
keep the coop looking lively.
Hall Retreat: ​plans a fall and spring retreat open to all Lewis chicks with guest
speakers, activities, and dinner.
Holiday: ​organizes events for holidays with activities and snacks.
Interhall Relations: ​plans events with our brother and sister halls and all other halls
on campus. Some events have included game watches on away game football
weekends, cookouts, and masses.
Lewsletter: ​sends out a weekly email after hall council with any updates of thing going
on in Lewis and around campus.
LHOP: ​Lewis Hall of Pancakes is a signature event with a different breakfast food item
on every floor. Open to the entire campus, this is a night you won’t want to miss.
Commissioners are responsible for organizing and advertising this event.
Luce: ​candlelit prayer service on Monday nights with donuts afterwards.
McWell: ​works with the McWell center and plans events focused on the health and
wellbeing of students.
Multicultural: ​hosts events throughout the year such as Multicultural night.
Music Ministry: ​organizes the choir and musicians for masses in Lewis.
ND Day: ​responsible for advertising and in charge of raising funds for ND Day, the
biggest day for fundraising in the year.
ND Votes: ​part of a campus wide club. Helps make sure chicks are registered to vote
and with events like Pizza, Pop, and Politics.
Off Campus: ​helps keep chicks who now live off campus stay involved with Lewis
events.
Parents’ Weekend: ​organizes a weekend for the parents of chicks switching off
between Ladies of the Lew and Lads of the Lew each year. Events have included having
afternoon tea, touring Father Hesburgh’s office, and going to the Blue Gold game.
Potty Talk: ​creates a weekly calendar to hang in the bathroom with events for that
week.
Rocknes: ​prepares monthly slideshows highlighting all of the things that happened
around the coop that month as part of the competition for hall of the year.
Service: ​plans weekly service trips and projects for chicks to volunteer and give back.
Snacks: ​prepares snacks to have after hall council weekly.
Spirit: ​organizes all things spirit related such as leading pep rallies and advertising
events.
Treasurer: ​responsible for keeping track of the budget and reimbursing people who
purchased items for events.
Wellness Weekend: ​one weekend each semester with events focused on wellness
such as yoga classes and a healthy avocado toast brunch.
Winter Spirit Week: ​plans events throughout the week leading up to our winter
formal.
