Activation of Log In with PayPal

23 Confidential & Priorietary

What is Log In with PayPal?
“Login with PayPal” is the eCommerce identification solution that allows your customers
to register on your site quickly and safely using their PayPal login information.
With this function, the customer does not have to re-enter the data already recorded in Pay-
Pal. You can therefore specifically shorten the buying process, since your customer no longer
has to go through the Account Creation step, while still allowing you to retrieve his/her data.

Recommandation:
Add the Log In with PayPal button to the login and home pages of your site.
For your customers, this function breaks down into 3 steps:
1. Choose to log in with PayPal
2. Enter PayPal login information
3. Share the information with you

At this stage, you have the data that should be copied into the PrestaShop back-office.
So that the function will be operational, you still have to proceed to the following verifications:
• In the section App Capabilities(1), check that the Accept Payments et Log In with PayPal boxes
are checked(1).

FAQ

31 Confidential & Priorietary

How can I personalize my payment page?
You can do this from your PayPal account. In Preferences > My sales > Personalization of the
payment page. You will find a list of the style sheets. The default style sheet is called “PayPal.”
You will have to add a new one that you may call whatever you wish. Specify the URL for your
logo and the colors you would like for the frame. Be careful: the images used must be hosted in
https, since the PayPal payment page is secure and requires that all the elements displayed also
be secure. When you have created this new style page, do not forget to make it “default.”

How does the shortcut button work?

The shorcut button redirects the buyer to the PayPal login page. After authentication, the buyer
validates the delivery address that is already recorded in his/her account and returns to your site
to validate the payment. His/Her delivery information is communicated to your site, where a buyer
account can be created if one does not already exist.

What is the difference between the two types of payment: direct and authorization?
The direct mode means that the money moves instantly from the buyer’s account to the seller’s
account at the time of payment. The authorized mode is a deferred mode of payment that
requires the funds to be collected manually when you want to transfer the money. This mode is
used if you want to ensure that you have the merchandise before depositing the money, for
example. Be careful, you have 29 days to collect the funds.

How do I use the module with a test account?

You can create test accounts at http://developer.paypal.com. To do a full test on your site, you
will need a buyer (personal) account and a seller (business) test account. You will then have to
activate the sandbox mode on the module and enter the API identifiers for your test account. To
make a payment, use your test buyer’s account.

Why is the shortcut button not displayed when I activate it in the module?
Check that the graphic theme that you use allows for display of the PayPal button.
