POLLUTION IN BAY “EL FERROL”

Description
Bay “El Ferrol” is located in the Pacific Ocean. It is located in Chimbote in Ancash, a region in
Peru. It has got a length of 11.1 km and a 6.5 km of width. It has got a biodiversity of different
fish, seals, births and a lots of marine plants.

Problem
 There are a lot of fishing factories and there is a metallurgy plant on the Bay Shore.
 These fishing factories discharge waste water into the bay and contaminate it.
 The metallurgy plant “SIDERPERU” discharges waste water into the bay too.
 SEDA CHIMBOTE also contaminates the bay. It also discharges domestic waste water into
the sea and “Lacramarca” river.
 People in Chimbote also contaminate the bay. They throw their solid residues in the bay.

This pollution creates physic, chemist, and biochemist changes in the resource of the
substratum. It affects the marine biodiversity in the bay. It also interrupts the opportunity of
using it as a recreational beach or tourist place.
POSSIBLE SOLUTION
1) We can promote informative campaigns to make people think about the problem.

2) We can establish an organ in the university to take care of the environment and the
bay.

3) We can design a proposal to evacuate the residual waste water in another place.

4) We can involve the community in the problem so they can help to clean the bay.

5) We can transact new rules in the municipality of Chimbote to take care of the
environment and the bay.
