II. DEAN’S TIME

Proposed CAS Building
The dean presented the designs (floor plans and site development plan) of the CAS building. Mam Marinas
commented about the location of the comfort rooms. Also, the body pointed out that the faculty members do not have a
comfort room. The dean said that the faculty can assign one comfort room exclusive for faculty members. Furthermore,
the body suggested that the lobby be converted into a faculty lounge. Sir Rualo suggested that the rooftop be converted
into a roof deck while the dean suggested that the divider of the rooms be removable. The suggestions were noted.
International Linkages
Sir Jarata announced two part research presentations in Thailand. Based on the MOU-the agreement is that the
faculty members will shoulder the air fare while the lodging and pick-up from the airport would be shouldered by the
partner schools. He also said that they are still working on the papers and they are hoping for the best. He also
mentioned about the communications they have with the president regarding the possible funding of the linkage. Dr.
Olarte appealed for another request for funding.
The dean also informed the body that the college is organizing a trip to Manila for the faculty in order to
process their passports. She also told the body that the linkage is not just about research presentations but it also
includes capability training series.
Academic Forum
The discussion on academic forum was skipped because of the limited time.
OTHER MATTERS
Final Exam
The dean informed the body regarding the checking of permits and signing of clearances for the final
examination. She also asked about the other collectibles from the students.
The SAS Facilitator appealed to the body that advisers should not convert the community service of the
students into cash. Dr. Eisma requested that community service be fulfilled this week since next week is exam week.
Mam Tumanan pointed out that some teachers allow students to take the exam even though the students have not
completed their community service and did not process their clearance. Sir Rualo suggested the non-release of the class
cards for students who did not process their clearances especially since the students are obliged to present all class cards
during enrolment.
Flag Ceremony
Sir Albay pointed out that some faculty members still sign the attendance even though they are late. Mam
Fangon said that some faculty members still sign even though they are late and she cannot decline. Mam Cabacungan
pointed out that some faculty members are in the corridors because the ceremony has started and they did not go in the
designated area. Mam Cabacungan appealed for consideration. Some members of the body pointed out that the
attendance in the ceremony is based on presence. Sir Ringor appealed for honesty. Mam Osillos asked the body to trust
the assigned checker.
Conduct of Remedial Classes
The SAS coordinator raised the issue of the conduct of special classes when classes were suspended by the
president last week. She threw the question to Dr. Pacho. Dr. Pacho said that the conduct of remedial classes follows a
process which involves application to conduct it to the college office as well as the approval of the said application. Sir
Rualo admitted conducting classes during the suspended days. He said that he used tutorial strategy and he only
explained the instructions for their assignment. Mam Tumanan pointed out that there is a process, her concern is that
some students are afraid of attending programs and helping in the facilitating of events since they have to attend
remedial classes.
Miscellaneous
The dean informed the body about the result of the Statistics contests. The dean also informed the body that
some faculty members will be conducting an internal assessment in MLUC the following day.
The Research coordinator told the body about the deadline of the research proposals 2016.
The FAD President announced the conduct of practices and trainings for the faculty and staff Olympics.
