Week 1:

Objectives:
1. Identify various settings involved in the delivery of health care.
2. Identify health science (imaging) professions that participate in the patient’s total
health care.
3. Discuss career opportunities and advancement for the radiographer
4. Describe continuous quality improvement (CQI).
5. Differentiate between, quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC).
6. List the benefits of a quality control management to the patient and to the
department.

Activities:
1. Health care environment knowledge survey – matching worksheet/game to assess
student’s entry level knowledge of health care settings. Follow up with discussion as
needed. 20 minutes
2. Radiology profession - view 2-minute interview videos of staff answering the following:
a. Who are you?
b. What is your role?
c. How long have you worked in this modality?
d. What do you do? (x-ray, specialty, etc)
e. What is your workday like?
f. What additional training (if any) did you need?
g. Why did you choose this modality?
h. Do you have any messages for new students to the radiology program?

First view the 8 modalities that graduates can transfer into from radiology
program (including MR), take short break and then return for Radiology assistant
through management. 40 minutes
3. Quality Management - short lecture with power point about QC/QM, students get
electronic copy to make notes on if desired. Tell students there will be a short quiz next
class. 30 minutes
