My Teaching Philosophy

I believe in the “4 Cs”: that I need to do: Connect I need to

connect well with not only my students, but their parents and the

colleagues around me. I strongly believe that relationships make

the connection, which becomes the community around us. I think

that my connection strengthens the socio-emotional bonds. As a

mother, I think it is important for educators to see the students’

progress from a parental perspective, as we should want what is

best for each child, as we would want for our own.

I believe in Collaboration! The old saying that two heads

are better than one is clearly a mantra of mine. I am clearly a

life- long learner, and I will proactively seek out constructive

feedback from both colleagues, administrators, and take feedback

from student activities to heart when planning.

Critical thinking is the key to scientific inquiry. I have

experience in teaching forms of questioning and I have practice

putting the cognitive load on students during the lesson. I believe

in the end goal of students’ primary representation of their

education to be their ability to think critically and independently.

Creativity is the energy that students need to express

themselves, their uniqueness, their learning, and their enjoyment

of learning. I believe all people are natural scientists and we

spend our lives engaged in the challenges of figuring out how the

world around us works. My philosophy is, like the bold vision of

the State of California’s Youth—to encourage each child to live up

to his/her highest potential!
