OVERVIEW:

Incorporated in Lahore on April 16,1992 followed by Karachi branch on May 09, 1992. The bank now
operates with 154 Branches spread all over Pakistan including the Northern Areas of the country where
no other private bank has ventured so far.

I worked at Soneri Bank Limited,Gulshan-e-jamal Branch, as an internee. The Officer told me about the
rules and the regulation and a brief history of the bank, Later on he told me the basics of some
operation of the departments in the bank .Though I was supposed to serve all departments including
Account Opening, Remittance, Clearing Department, yet I served the account opening and the clearing
department most

Account Opening Department:


The bankers and the customer relationship initates with after opening an account .So according to the
needs of the customer ,following are the classification of accounts, the soneri bank is currently offering

 Current Account
 Soneri Saving
 PLS Soneri Saving
 Basic Banking

Current Account:
It’s a nonprofit ,flexible account specially used for frequent transaction .Current account can be opened
with the minimum amount of 10,000 and Rs 50 will be deducted per month from the account if the
balance decreases from 10,000

Profit and loss saving account:


The account can be opened with the minimum amount, with the minimum amount of Rs 5000 and RS
50 will be deducted per month if the balances decreases from 5000 and the profit rate is 5%

Soneri Saving:
Fast growing cumulative profit account and no minimum balance is required and the profit rate is 7-
8%more then the PLS saving account
Basic Banking:
Basic Banking account are usually opened by students or housewife and No minimum
balance requirement is applicable. It’s a non profit bearing account and 4 withdrawals from a basic
banking account through cheques in one calendar month are free of charges

If any person wants to open an account with the bank the account opening officer first of all get the
photocopy of CNIC of the customers and get it verified from NADRA.After verification customers fill the
account opening form and give back to the officer along with the required document. Officer then later
issue account number to the customer and fill KYC(know your customer policy) and maintain CRM for his
own record . Cheque book handling, ATM treatment and reconciling, entertaining and resolving
customer queries, maintaining and updating CRM are the prime responsibilities of the customer service
department

Remittance:
The bank also promotes the facility of remitting the funds from one place to another. However
remittance are of two types but during my internship period I have dealt with the inland remittances
which means transfer of funds from one branch to another within country through the following bank
instrument

Demand Draft: In order to transfer the cash outside the city, demand draft is used for this purpose

Pay order: To transfer the cash in any particular company account which is placed within a city pay
order is used

Clearing Department: Clearing department deals with


 Inward Clearing
 Outward Clearing
 Transfer delivery

Clearing that are responding to the branch are the Inward clearing and those clearing which are sent by
that branch are outward clearing,.

Transfer delivery is made within the city of branches of soneri bank. Any account holder who is within
the city can get cash with the help of another branch
