(MAHB) shares in early trade Monday.

The Turkish lira fell as much as 14% against the dollar, chalking up its worst day
since Turkey’s financial crisis of 2001.

Reuters reported that the currency was now down more than 36% this year, and
17% this month alone, fanning worries about a full-blown economic crisis.

Both IHH and MAHB have operations in Turkey and the financial crisis happened in
Turkey may affect the companies’ business operations there.
IHH and MAHB are among the top losers on Bursa Malaysia, shedding 20 sen and
12 sen respectively to RM5.55 and RM9.74 each.

News broke that IHH is facing some hiccups to proceed with the plan to acquire
Fortis Healthcare Ltd.

Last Thursday, it was reported on the Nikkei Asian Review that a court order could
potentially force the planned acquisition to take a backseat following the order that
was filed by Japanese drugmaker Daiichi Sankyo through the Delhi High Court to
block the pending deal.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Turkish Airlines is bidding to buy a majority
stake in Istanbul’s second airport from MAHB.

Bloomberg reported that Turk Hava Yollari AO, as Turkish Airlines is formally known,
has offered to buy 80% of ISG for 750 million euros.
