Case Report Undernutrition with Mild Acute Respiratory Tract Infection and Speech Delayed
in Ch. S through Family Medicine Approach at Work Territory of Puskesmas Gembong,
Balaraja Village, Tangerang District, Banten Province Period : April 9th 2018 – May 9th 2018

ABSTRACT
Background : Undernutrition is one of the nutritional problems in children with weight-for-
height Word Health Organization growth chart point between the -2SD and -3 SD line. According to WHO 2016, the prevalence of children with stunted growth in the world reaches 155 million and children with wasting reaches 52 million. Meanwhile the prevalence of children with stunted growth and wasting in Southeast Asia reached 15.1 million and 7.8 million in 2016. Data from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia in 2017 obtained prevalence of undernutrition in under 5 years old children is 17.8%. The prevalence of children with underweight nutrition status in Banten Province is 19.7% and in Tangerang district in 2017 is 17.8%. Children younger than 5 years old with undernutrition associated with increases the morbidity of acute respiratory infections (ARI) due to disruption of the body's immune system. The prevalence of ARI cases in under 5 years children is 50% of the total population. Number of undernutrition cases at Puskesmas Gembong in February to March 2018 amounted 24 cases. One of them was Ch.S who had undergone an undernutrition with a complication as mild Acute respiratory Infection. This patient brought a concern for us to do a home visit care in order to improve the nutrition status and prevent worsening. Case: A girl, 3 years and four month old came to Puskesmas Gembong along with her mother with cough and sniffles. Her mother told that the patient was harldy want to eat and the patient’s body looked too thinner than her age. The patient's mother said that the patient was once said to be underweight when complained about the same problems at the Puskesmas. The patient's mother also complained about the patient's speech delay. Anthropometric data showed her weight for height data was under the -2 SD line. Discussion: the several problems that founded in this patient, which review by Mandala of Health was poor food intake, poor parenting and poor house environment which lead to the patient’s undernutrition and mild acute respiratory infections problem. A series of interventions and consultations to the nutrition expert were organized to the patient and monitoring the patient’s weight within 4 weeks, the patient’s weight increased approximately 1 kg.
